BEIJING –LHASA- MANASAROVAR-KAILASH-KATHMANDU
6 – 25 June 2011

Day 1: 6th June Arrive in Beijing
Soon after landing at Beijing airport, you will be escorted to your hotel. At the hotel, you shall be briefed about your travel arrangements and travel destinations. Thereon, you can enjoy the lively ambience and excellent facilities of the hotel

Day 2: 7th June  Sightseeing in Beijing
You will visit the Tian Anmen Square, the largest city square in the world and the spiritual heart of China, where the national flag is raised exactly at sunrise every day, the Forbidden City, located in the center of Beijing, which used to be the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years ( it is the grandest integral palace complex still remaining in China). You will also be taken to visit the Summer Palace, located on the northwestern outskirts of the city. It was an imperial summer resort of the Qing Dynasty. With its perfect layout, magnificent buildings and enchanting landscape, it is the most splendid classical garden in China.

Day 3: 8th June  Sightseeing in Beijing
Today you will visit the majestic Great Wall at Badaling, the most outstanding representation of China’s Great Wall, located 70km north-west of Beijing, at an elevation of 1000m. This section was first built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD). It stands at a strategic highest point from north-west of Beijing and gives access to every direction.  The surrounding scenery is magnificent and impressive. Early in the morning you will be taken for a visit to the Temple of Heaven which spreads across a 267 hectare park. This temple serves as the best example of the fine Ming architecture. To the Chinese this is a sacred site where prayers for good harvests, prosperity and harmonious life are offered.

In the evening you board the ‘Sky train’ to Lhasa and experience the world’s highest railway journey. Leaving Beijing you embark on a train journey to Lhasa, aboard the world's highest railway, the Qinghai-Tibet railway. As the train trundles along the high Tibetan plateau, picturesque scenes of Tibetan countryside whiz by. Owing to Tibet's high altitude the train has been equipped with oxygen-supplying equipments. Oxygen masks are available for those who are prone to altitude sickness.

Day 4: 9th June  Journey in the Train
Train T27 will start from Beijing West Railway Station at 21:30 and arrive at Lhasa Railway Station at 20:58 on the third day after 47 hours and 28 minutes' running.

Day 5:    10th June            Arrive in Lhasa (3650 meter)
Finally after a 2-day adventurous journey, you finally arrive in Lhasa. Your Tibetan escort will met you right at the station and escort you to your hotel in Lhasa and brief you about your further tour arrangement.

Day 6: 11th June
Sight Seeing in Lhasa

Day 7     12th June            Drive to Shigatse.
Morning sightseeing in the summer palace, Norbulinka and Barkhor market. Drive to Shigatse. Overnight at hotel Shigatse.

Day 8     13th  June           Drive to Lhatse
Morning sightseeing tour in Shigatse: visit Tahilhumpu monastery. Then drive to Lhatse. Overnight at Guest house.

Day 9     14th June            Drive to Saga (group arrives Saga. JOIN GROUP)
Drive 292 km to Saga by the rough roads. Saga which means “Happy Land” is situated along the Tsangpo River in region circle crossed by the upper Brahma and its tributaries. The land becomes rugged, the air thinner and the sky endless and impossible blue. And we will spend night Saga Hotel.   

Day 10   15thJune             Drive to Paryang (4130 m) Overnight at Guest House
Drive about 254 km to Paryang in the heart of western Tibet, where the four great rivers of South Asia diverge from their glacial sources around Mountain Kailash. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 11   16th June            Start a morning pleasant drive around Lake Mansarovar (30km) reaching Chiu Gompa.  Overnight at Guest House.
After an early morning breakfast, you will depart for Lake Mansarovar. The drive takes about 2 & 1/2 hours. On the way, we will take a short break in Rakshas Taal (Lake Ravana) to see the breathtaking views of Rakshas Taal with back ground view of holy Kailash. After taking a short break in Rakshas Taal & take some pictures, you will continue your journey to Lake Mansarover. After having holy dip and lunch, you will depart for a Parikrama [Kora] around the lake Mansarovar on jeep (approx.72km/ 2hours).

Day 12   17th June            Drive to Darchen (4620 m) base camp of Kailash. Overnight at Guest House.
After morning activities (holy bath or Pooja) around midday we will start Mansarovar Parikrama by Land cruiser. Short drive to Darchen the Base camp of Mt. Kaialsh. [280km].

Day 13   18th June            Commence trek/Parikarma to Dira-puk (4860 m) approx. 10 km. Overnight at Tented Camp.
Early Morning (after breakfast), we take a 45 minutes ride on Jeep to Tarboche (Yam Dwar), the parikrama starting point. This is the easily accessible point from where you can see the closest view of Mt. Kailash. Today, we walk near about 10km. The trail is reasonably easy and flat. We overnight at tended camp.

Day 14   19th June            Proceed to Zutul-phuk (4760 m) via Dolmala pass (5800m) approx 18 km. O/n at Tented Camp.
We trek further to Zutrulphuk (16000ft) via Dolmala pass (5600 m.). Today is the second day that we overnight at tended camp.

Day 15   20th June            Trek about 10km, drive to Prayang. Overnight at Guest House.
After a short trek, we will reach near Darchen from where we will be picked up by Land Cruiser and drive to Lake Mansarovar to join the group After Mount Kailash tour you take a 300 km drive crossing Mayum-la and several rivers. The scenery along this section is some of the most beautiful of the entire journey, and a distant storm drifting in back of Tibetans, horses & sheep is a fantastic sight.

Day 16   21st June             Drive Prayang to Saga. Overnight at Saga Hotel.
You continue driving for another 255km to Saga passing through dusty town of Zhongba and a few smaller passes.

Day 17   22nd June           Drive Saga to Nyalam. Overnight at Guest House.
Crossing Brahmaputra River by a ferry, you continue driving 250 km to Nyalam. Soon after leaving Saga the road opens into a wide flat plain and passes through huge turquoise lake, the Peiku-Tso with spectacular view of Shishapangma (8027m) as the backdrop. Further drive across Lalung La (5200m
through a perfect blend of breathtaking views, alpine meadow trails, picturesque hamlets and an abundance of wildflowers finally brings you to Nyalam at 3750 meter.

Day 18   23rd June            Drive to Zhangmu, after completing Chinese immigration and drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel
From Nyalam, you drive down to the border town of Zhangmu. From Zhangmu, it’s a short drive to the Friendship Bridge which spans the Bhote Kosi River and marks the Chinese - Nepalese border where you part with your Tibetan guide and driver and walk to Nepalese Immigration Control in Kodari where you will be met by your Nepalese staff. After completing the re-entry formalities you continue the drive to Kathmandu which, depending on road and weather conditions, should take about 5-6 hours.

Day 19   24th  June             Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu
Visit Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 20   25th June            Departure transfers to Airport to connect flight for onward journey.
